How to send e-invoices from Xero

Peppol built inXero · 🇦🇺 🇳🇿

Xero documents Peppol eInvoicing for Australian businesses and government agencies. This entry describes that regional capability rather than assuming that every Xero organisation worldwide has the same electronic delivery options.

Before you start

  • Use an organisation eligible for Xero’s regional eInvoicing service.
  • Register the business for eInvoicing.
  • Confirm the customer’s business identifier and ability to receive eInvoices.

Step by step

  1. 1Check eInvoicing availability for the organisation’s country.
  2. 2Complete the business registration required by Xero.
  3. 3Check the customer’s business identification details.
  4. 4Create and review the sales invoice.
  5. 5Use the available eInvoice delivery option for an eligible recipient.

Why invoices from Xero get rejected

  • Check the recipient’s registered business identifier before selecting electronic delivery.
  • Do not assume that sending a PDF by email uses the Peppol network.

Good to know

  • The inspected Australian overview does not provide a complete screen-by-screen sending procedure.
  • Native support in Australia must not be extrapolated to all European or global editions.
  • No specific syntax or EN 16931 profile is asserted.
