ZUGFeRD validator for hybrid PDF invoices

ZUGFeRD combines a human-readable PDF with an embedded CII XML. Drop the PDF here — we extract the XML, detect the profile and tell you whether it counts as an e-invoice under German law.

What this validator checks for Germany

  • Extraction of factur-x.xml / zugferd-invoice.xml from the PDF
  • Profile detection from the GuidelineSpecifiedDocumentContextParameter
  • Warning when the profile is MINIMUM or BASIC WL (not an e-invoice in Germany)
  • EN 16931 business and calculation rules on the CII data
  • VAT identifiers in SpecifiedTaxRegistration (scheme VA)

Which ZUGFeRD profiles are allowed?

The Federal Ministry of Finance accepts ZUGFeRD from version 2.0.1 in all profiles except MINIMUM and BASIC WL, because those two do not contain invoice lines. BASIC, EN 16931 (Comfort), EXTENDED and XRECHNUNG are fine for B2B.

The PDF is not what gets validated

Legally, the XML is the invoice. If the PDF and the XML disagree, the XML wins. That is why we validate the embedded data and show it in a structured view — so you can compare it with the visible PDF.
