Question 1

Why do Belgian invoices fail to arrive when the company is on Peppol?

Accepted Answer

A Peppol ID is a scheme plus a number. Belgian companies are registered under their enterprise number with scheme 0208, and sometimes also under their VAT number with scheme 9925. If your software sends to an ID the receiver isn’t registered under, the invoice can’t be delivered. This lookup checks both.

Question 2

Where does this information come from?

Accepted Answer

Live from the Peppol network: the SML (the central DNS-based address book) tells us which service provider registry (SMP) holds the company’s registration, and the SMP lists the document types it can receive. Company names come from the public Peppol Directory.

Question 3

Does “registered” guarantee my invoice will be accepted?

Accepted Answer

It means the company can receive that document type through Peppol. The invoice itself must still pass validation — check it with the free validator before sending.

Question 4

What should I enter?

Accepted Answer

A VAT number (BE0403170701), a Belgian enterprise number, a Dutch KvK number or OIN, a French SIREN or SIRET, a GLN, a German Leitweg-ID or a full Peppol ID such as 0208:0403170701.

Question 5

Can I check a whole customer or supplier list?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for Belgian companies. The client list check takes a CSV or pasted list of up to 500 companies and checks each under 0208 and 9925. The first 10 are free; Pro checks the whole list, exports it and re-checks it monthly. Via the API, each company uses one call (100 free calls a month with an account).
