What it means
The net unit price (BT-146) must be zero or positive. A negative line total is not itself prohibited by this rule; the problem is the negative unit price.
Typical causes
- A return was entered with a negative unit price
- A discount was entered as a negative price
How to fix it
- Check the affected item’s net unit price
- For an invoice return, use a non-negative price with the appropriate negative quantity; for a discount, use an allowance
- For credit notes, use your software’s credit note workflow and validate again
What the rule says (technical)
The Item net price (BT-146) shall NOT be negative.
Use a positive price with a negative quantity for returns, or a line allowance for discounts.
