What it means

The file is not recognised as a supported electronic invoice. It must be a UBL 2.1 invoice or credit note, or a UN/CEFACT CII invoice, with the correct format declaration.

Typical causes

  • A PDF or another XML format was uploaded
  • The export uses the wrong document declaration

How to fix it

  1. Select UBL 2.1 or CII in your export settings
  2. Ask your provider to check the root element and namespace declaration, then export again
What the rule says (technical)

The root element must be a UBL 2.1 Invoice or CreditNote, or a UN/CEFACT CrossIndustryInvoice, in the correct namespace.

Check the root element and its xmlns declaration. UBL invoices use urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:Invoice-2; CII uses urn:un:unece:uncefact:data:standard:CrossIndustryInvoice:100.
