What it means
Every identifier labelled with scheme 0208 — the Peppol address, a party identifier or a company number — must be the bare 10-digit Belgian enterprise number with valid check digits. Access points reject the invoice otherwise.
Typical causes
- The VAT number BE0403170701 was entered under scheme 0208.
- The number was exported with dots or spaces, e.g. 0403.170.701.
- An old 9-digit number lost its leading zero, or a digit is mistyped.
How to fix it
- Write the enterprise number as 10 digits only: 0403170701.
- Use scheme 9925 if you really mean the VAT number BE0403170701.
- Check the number in the KBO/BCE register, correct the customer or company record and export the XML again.
